अग्रणी दवा कंपनी फाइजर और बायोएनटेक द्वारा विकसित किए जा रहे नए कोविड टीके को सब कुछ ठीक होने पर इस साल के अंत में या अगले साल की शुरुआत में उपलब्ध कराना शुरू कर दिया जायेगा। इसके निर्माताओं में से एक ने रविवार को यह जानकारी दी। पिछले सप्ताह बायोएनटेक और सह-निर्माता फाइजर ने कहा था कि उसके टीके के विश्लेषण से पता चला है कि यह 90 प्रतिशत से अधिक लोगों को कोविड-19 से बचाने में कारगर हो सकता है। लगभग 43,000 लोगों ने जांच में भाग लिया था।

बायोएनटेक के सह-संस्थापक और सीईओ प्रो.उगुर साहिन ने बीबीसी को बताया कि अगले साल अप्रैल तक दुनियाभर में 30 करोड़ से अधिक खुराक उपलब्ध कराने का लक्ष्य है। उन्होंने कहा, ”गर्मी का मौसम हमारी मदद करेगा क्योंकि गर्मी में संक्रमण दर कम हो जायेगी और यह बहुत जरूरी है कि हम अगले साल शरद ऋतु/सर्दियों से पहले टीकाकरण की उच्च दर को हासिल कर लें।”

उन्होंने कहा, ”अगर सब कुछ ठीक चलता रहा, तो इस साल के अंत में या अगले साल की शुरुआत में टीका उपलब्ध कराया जाना शुरू हो जायेगा।” साहिन ने कहा कि उन्हें विश्वास है कि टीका लोगों के बीच संक्रमण को कम कर देगा और साथ ही साथ किसी ऐसे व्यक्ति में लक्षणों को विकसित होने से रोकेगा जिन्होंने टीका लगवा लिया होगा।

उन्होंने कहा, ”मुझे पूरा विश्वास है कि इस तरह के प्रभावी टीके द्वारा लोगों के बीच संक्रमण फैलना बंद होने की उम्मीद है।” उन्होंने कहा कि यह सर्दी अभी भी कठिन होगी क्योंकि टीके का संक्रमण की संख्या पर बड़ा प्रभाव नहीं पड़ेगा। दुनियाभर में इस महामारी के 5,40,68,000 मामले सामने आ चुके हैं। कोरोना वायरस से सबसे प्रभावित देश अमेरिका है।

जॉन्स हॉपकिन्स विश्वविद्यालय के नवीनतम आंकड़ों के अनुसार अमेरिका में इस महामारी के 1,09,08,000 से अधिक मामले सामने आये हैं और 2,45,600 लोगों की मौत हुई है। यह पूछे जाने पर कि क्या यह टीका बुजुर्ग लोगों में उतना ही प्रभावी है जितना कि युवा लोगों में, उन्होंने कहा कि उन्हें अगले तीन हफ्तों में इस संबंध में बेहतर जानकारी मिलने की उम्मीद है। यह टीका उन 11 टीकों में से एक है जो वर्तमान में परीक्षण के अंतिम चरण में हैं।
